In 2013 our eldest son was a H.E.A.T. officer for the Arlington, Texas Police Department. One evening he called me on his way home from a training he had had from Lt. Col. Dave Grossman and he was so animated and passionate about it. He bought me Dave's book, "On Combat" and from the first chapter I wrote in the margins, "This should be expanded to include spiritual combat!" This was because as a seasoned intercessor, I've learned many of the things written there and...my goodness! I learned so much more. Then during the summer of 2020 Lt. Col. Grossman began promoting a new book, co authored by a retired police officer, Alan Davis..."On Spiritual Combat"! Wow! I could not wait to get it. I devoured the entire thing in a few days but there was so much there and after all, I had prayed that the LORD would do this exact thing, I could not help take it's writing a bit personal. So I decided, the best way to master anything is to teach it. And that is exactly what I did! I took a fledgling young Christian woman, asked her to be my practice target and we began digging into the thirty missions covered in the book! It was a long commitment. We did a mission a week. Sometimes we did two if something happened and we had to miss a week because of family activities. But we determined ourselves to complete the book in thirty weeks and that is exactly what we did! We learned all the songs and from time to time found dramatic readers or even groups performing some of the poet pieces and acting out some of the salient material from the book. I believe the LORD would have me begin the book with new co-learners again. And so I will start again in September 2021...October at the latest. It is not a difficult read. It is rich and has many facets but for me that makes it interesting and engaging. In the grip of the LORD's sovereignty, my husband and I have numerous intercessory prayer teams...some from around the world and I would recommend anyone who loves prayer, loves the smell of spiritual battle smoke or wants to sharpen their swords and polish their spiritual armor...this book is a wonderful tool. Thank you Lt. Col and Adam Davis. Bravo. Good work. I hope I will get to share it with lots of spiritual sheepdogs.
