Hysterically bad. Poor acting. Uninteresting characters. Lame plot. Almost as bad as Lady in the Lake. What made M. Night think this was a remotely interesting story. Very much feels like a 1970s made for television movie.

An uninspired and necessary entry into an extremely successful franchise. The acting is, okay. The story is practically nonexistent. Music and cinematography are functional at best. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and Covenant offered a new sense of purpose to the series. We were in a quest to meet our makers? What the hell happened? David is still alive. Why was the opportunity to go deeper abandoned for a shallow remake of the original. I don’t get to go to the movies to often. This was a let down; especially having watched the two prior film last night, back to back. So, I was pumped. Then their is Ian Holm…

I’ve been waiting for so many years for this. Anne Rice allegedly had final say, to my understanding. Yet, this is not truly Interview with the Vampire. Do you remember how he loathed the thought of human blood and drank the blood of rats? Do you recall the utter darkness on those pages? These characters are not Louis and Lestat. The attempts to adapt this to modern times just doesn’t work here. I love the Neil Jordan adaptation, but nothing beats immersing oneself in the written pages of Anne Rice.

Could have cut the emotional scenes short; otherwise, brilliantly executed. There hasn’t been a bad Spider-Man movie, yet.

This is the first Arthurian legend adapted to film since John Boorman’s Excalibur that didn’t stumble into the trap of trying to make the audience happy. With direction that reflects the likes of Robert Eggers and Ari Aster’s bleak and haunting style of horror. There is no fluff. There is very little eye candy; but instead, the story and the landscape create something fierce and beautiful. The script sticks with the common telling of the story. Since the horrible Sean Connery version of this tale, I’ve fantasized about a brutal and straight telling. This was everything I desired; a true tribute to the old legends. Excellent film. If you are looking for shallow escapism, you will not find it here. You will instead find a haunting work of art. I think most pop audiences will miss the subtleties that make this a masterwork.

Having loved the book, I loved this King written adaptation. Given his direct involvement in all aspects of the show, I can accept the deviations from the novel. A bit slow at times. Beautiful. Boo’ya Moon was exactly as it was in my head; the combination of dark blue night and the red hazy moon, lush and temperate. Humid. Excellent writing, acting, set production, cinematography. There is one thing I couldn’t stand. Marionettes. The goofy wooden Clive Owen and Julianne Moore faces. In the end, it is a beautiful piece based upon a work that seemed unadaptable; nevertheless, a shadow of the novel, Lisey’s Story.
