Mika and Joe,
In light of the current political environment, which includes unprecedented attacks on our democracy, I feel compelled to write this letter. The Democrats must win the Senate and the White House and instill civility in our democratic procedures, including the election process itself.
I firmly believe the only way for this to happen is through a formidable media and public relations strategy that clearly and effectively conveys a message to impact and motivate the public. Focus, unity and resonance in this message are vital. Eliminate the potential for confusion and clearly identify a brand, a Democratic brand, and drive it home. Articulate a centrist message that is clear, concise and relatable to the average working American and everyday people. Eliminate the confusion, clarify taglines and focus on succinct, simple talking points.
Marketing of the democratic brand is crucial for more than the election or impeachment process and it cannot wait until the primaries. This must be addressed immediately as our party’s survival depends on it. Time is of the essence. Having celebrities come out and endorse the democratic candidate a week before the elections is woefully inadequate. We need to clearly identify our message, develop a strategy and send out ambassadors and spokespeople to excite people about our party and incentivise them to vote. To throw support to the brand and what democracy and what it does for our quality of life and this wonderful country.
As a concerned citizen I implore the Democratic party to cultivate strong leadership. Public perception is everything and a masterful marketing program to support our vision is key. Donald Trump and the Republican party have dominated the narrative for years. President Obama's message of hope and change resonated with Americans. How can we make our vision for America, in these turbulent times, resonate with our fellow Americans now? Democrats, keeping democracy strong in America.
