I have been waiting for this movie quite enthusiastically since the first poster came out. With a cast as strong as the Rock himself, I had a lot many expectations from this movie. It is a classic Now You See Me meets National Treasure and Indiana Jones to give a heist movie of this standard after a long time. With Gal Gadot and her amazing moves, the movie takes a lot of twists with history entwined to its very core. John Hartley played by Dwayne Johnson collaborates with Nolan Booth, a conman, played by our very charming Ryan Reynolds to catch the greatest art thief of the world, the very charming Gal Gadot herself. Now, if you go into the movie thinking you will have an out of the world experience and it will be something different, then you will surely be disappointed. It is like any other Police thief collaboration movie that you may have watched in the past with a pretty straightforward plot and almost expected twists at the end of movie. With a budget of two hundred million dollars and the tag of Netflix’s costliest movie, it will just give you Dwayne, Reynolds and Gadot which, let’s be honest, is why many of us decided to watch this movie in the first place.
I give red Notice a solid 7.5 because it delivers an amazing bantership between Reynolds and Johnson as promised, lovely Gal Gadot and her moves and not so shocking twist towards the end of it. Although with a duration of one hour and fifty-five minutes, the movie does not seem like a stretch because of the action-packed scenes and Reynolds witty one liners. But if you have watched movies starring Dwayne Johnson, you will realize the character played by Dwayne is almost so similar in each of his movie, the tough guy who beats all odd and weirdly the same goes for Ryan Reynolds, funny guy with a lot of tricks up his sleeves and so help me God for Gal Gadot as well, a beautifully gorgeous lady with mind blowing fight moves and a sharp mind. These actors are so immortalized in their characters and they more or less play the same characters with the same trope that the movie really felt like a thousand version of Jumanji meeting Free Guy and crashing the Wonder Woman party.
You can watch it for the action, comedy, Gal Gadot and for the marriage of convenience between Dwayne and Reynolds, our work wives. It is no doubt hilarious and delivers on the glamour and action packed party front and gives a not so subtle nod to a possible sequel that might be in the making. All in all, if you have two hours to spend and want to watch a comedy with action and glamour, this is your movie. Binge away folks.
