Brad Pitt vanity project. Don't get me wrong, I am a sci-fi buff, space movie junkie even. Still I found Gravity a waste of time and Martian a tad too positive, but both tried to entertain, even if in a juvenile way. With Ad Astra, you get excellent special effects, amid complete ignorance towards science or even basic reality in any compressible manner. Even the basic Newtonian laws of physics are trashed in an effort to tidy up the story line. There is a glimpse of the upcoming commercial space age. Brad Pitt has acted well, and as said before, graphic effects are stunning, but lacking in a good story.
