I have a love + hate relationship with this anime.
On the plus side, itโs packed with comedy, action, drama, and an intriguing lore. But the hate part comes in with some of the storytelling choices. The โteacherโ whoโs not actually a teacher... yeah, I knew from the start it wasnโt a brothel or a strip club. It was funny the first two times, but after that? Just got annoying. Thatโs just my take.
Then there's how the main character treated his mom and childhood friendโmajor pain in the ass. Sure, the story gives some reason for why heโs a jerk to his friend, but to his mom? Was that supposed to be comedic? Her being nosey was funny at first, but their dynamic got more irritating as it went on.
And (I donโt even like using the word โsimpingโ)โbut wow, the way he chased after that girl with zero foundation for it, just hoping to get lucky or something? It felt like the writers had no idea what they wanted their relationship to be. Just as it hinted at redemption or character growthโbam, straight back to disappointment. And her obsession with her brother? Gave off real uncomfortable vibesโฆ borderline incest-level weirdness.
That said, the last four episodes were really touching and beautiful in their own way. No spoilers, but they carried emotional weight and showed what the series couldโve been consistently.
If it gets a Season 2, hopefully the creators take fan feedback seriously and tighten up the storytelling.
