Won’t watch it. Absolutely not. I watched the Roseanne reboot out of nostalgia and then thought “hey there is more to the story of the Connor family”. Then in one scene the aunt Jackie character made a truly tasteless comment to the Becky character about abortion. She reads Becky’s health history at a doctors office and says “you have never had an abortion?...really?” Her character’s tone of voice, body language, and facial expression all conveyed the Insinuation that Becky was lying because ...we all know ...every gal has had one as a rite of passage in the modern era. ...wink wink “Beckie you don’t have to lie to me” I was offended but kept watching because overall with the show, there was a spark there. Then it was a success and Rosanne Connor’s character was not the big joke they expected. She was not a quaint characature of everyone’s old shriveled rascist, fascist, xenophobic, homophobic favorite relative. It did not become a show where her “crackpot conservative” values were “proven wrong” by the wiser evolved progressive family members each week. Based on What I have described above and have already seen on the reboot, I will pass. I don’t want to tune in weekly to be lectured and shamed about who I am and what I believe. Demsplained so to speak...pass. I think Hollywood must not realize just how completely it is encased in a giant bell jar so that all it’s views are distorted. Roseanne opened up a dialogue among us about life in America. It touched on issues that were relevant. I truly do believe that a Liberal Hollywood old guard really wanted to shut down that dialogue and put conservatives in their place. I could go on but I won’t because I have already given the connors far more of my valuable time than it deserves.
