just came across mention of this movie and googled its analytics for the heck of it. All I can say in brief is that this title is yet another example of DON'T LISTEN TO CRITICS.
If you're looking for ye old lords n rings, just don't even bother. This film reimagines the Arthuriam myth in an alternative fantasy setting that blends with a considerable amount of contemporary anachronism, such as squire bragindines more closely resembling modern hoodies, and Jude Law's wardrobe seems about 500 years ahead of itself. Dialogue is also carried with mostly modern British dialect, making the characters feel more inherently familiar to predispostionless viewers.
As far as acting, directing, music scoring... it's all there. CG could have been a little better, but it was more polished than I'd have expected from the film at large. If you appreciate Guy Ritchie's directing, then you've probably already seen King Arthur, but if you're not familiar with his works, I'd recommend watching Snatch to get a good idea of what he initially brought to Hollywood, THEN check out this movie and decide how it resonates his legacy. Obviously this isn't his best work, but I feel it's important to understand who's directing this movie before they cast judgment on its presentation.
I laughed, I cried, I cringed, and ultimately, I walked out of the theater hoping for a sequel. As someone who simply hears about a movie and goes for it without wearing a shell of expectations, I highly recommend this film. It's a bit cheesy and campy at times, but you'd have to be the type to go hunting for problems with everything to finish King Arthur with less than a positive mindset.
It's a good movie, just check it out and can the tunnelvision critics.
