I believe the whole purpose of this book was the receive the backstory on President Snow and understand why he was the way he was. This was never provided. It was clear that Collins was torn between making the reader sympathize with Snow while also displaying his toxic character traits and it wasn’t done well in my opinion. The ending was not believable and I received zero insight as to a deeper understanding of his character. I guess that’s if you discount the numerous pages describing his hate for Mockingjays. All in all it was slow and unrewarding. I wouldn’t recommend.
