The most realistic depiction of Medieval Vikings imaginable. Every aspect of the movie is based on historical, anthropological, written evidence. I am confused by the negative reviews. It was an utterly immersive experience into the Norse world. It’s difficult to understand the blurred line between the mystic/spiritual and “real” life today when we choose to “believe” in a religion or pick & choose what we believe. The Vikings’ lives were intertwined with their mythology, the gods were real. They truly believed spirit animals (bears/wolves) could inhabit them… first-hand written accounts from the period recall Vikings walking on all fours, growling, howling, seething & brutal. There isn’t a ton of exposition since the experience is immersive. For over 2 hours you inhabit both the psyche & the world of Vikings. Outstanding.
