Entertaining without malice. Im pre-qualifying this by saying that I have played one of the games all the way through and a little of another. I don't know the lore thoroughly but a little and i think this movie is pretty surface level. Spoiler alert for further reading. I thought the vault was ok but they could have done a lot more. The boss fight was dumb. The vault guardian was barely an after thought and not mentioned. Too much lore related stuff gets a mention with zero explanation. Predictable and basic story arc. This definitely could have been a much longer game given the material they had to work with. The games are extremely long and this movie was way too short. As a stand alone the movie is not the worst piece of cinema but as a game based movie it’s pretty bad. Casting was good and costume and set design were spot on. Characters were well played. Someone gave a horrible review of Cate Blanchette but i thought she did fairly well. Overall its worth a $5.00 rent on amazon but not a $20 rent.

High hopes created by a preview were dashed as the letdown occurred. This cinematic horror show feels more like a Rob Zombie flick in the end. Apparently we all need to be hard pressed to find a movie without some form of rape and violence against women. I get that maybe we don’t need to bury our heads in the sand, but every once in a while it’s fun to see a movie without it. Plot holes and melodrama ensue as two young women embark on a terrifying and nonsensical revenge journey that you can never un-see. I recommend potential victims of this movie find something better for an hour and a half or so.
