Far from being the Great British Baking Show, this show highlighted talented pastry chefs with wonderful abilities, who, in this first Season, had a contestant, who came to the so-called friendly competition with extreme personal ambitions to the point of being unpleasant and selfish. The premise of this show is money while the Baking is a more friendly environment that is peculiar British where contestants enjoy the art of baking and is more enjoyable.

Points galore for historical accuracy and then all down hill beside that. Scenes dripped with locations, costumes, transportation etal. The rest of the show is a dime store novel with a star who looks too much like a 12 year old, her lover who is over the top presumptuous and self-loving and the continuous scenes of love making are comical at best (and they needed an intimacy coordinator?). I lost count of amateur groans and grunts over and over again--puleeze. On top of everything else they marketed this with an overwhelming embarrassing reminder that Julie Andrews is somewhere.

It started out being what most people including myself enjoyed--an historical drama about the start of the computer age. It then "sank" under the boring and childish escapades of several meandering self centered smart morons who wandered about in love, not in love, weren't sure of love--total stupidity and BORING. If they stuck to the historical significance of what was going on in its first 2 1/2 seasons instead of falling into personal romanceville, it might have continued. Glad its gone

Seasons 1 and 2 were novel and intriguing and drew me into a unique and actually plausible possibility of a US catastrophe. I do not know the reasons for ABC cancellation but I found, after watching Season 3, very good reasons why I did not appreciate any of Season 3 and, most likely will not waste my time on Season 4, if it continues in its current scripted path. It should have ended after Season 2 with the success of the US system of government and a man who met his challenges--after all that was all it was suppose to be about. Instead, its greedy success produced nothing but an afternoon of soap operas as if this was White House Desperate Housewives. Every conceivable thing you could think about was lumped into this Season 3, illegal immigration, gay rights, transgender, election fraud, assisted suicide, classic woman in distress literally running into bed for sex just because she is a woman, a hint at pregnancy, bioterrorism, Russian military, classic big screen military intervention in the situation room and finally a stamp of progressive/koombayah over all of it--you name it, it is all there and it all seemed to be done so that they got it all into the Season 3 even though the initial plot here has nothing to with any of this.
