Entertaining, for the most part, but in many ways the filmmakers bit off more than they could chew. It's an unfortunate trend in superhero flicks: each new offering has to outdo the last one, thus the emphasis is more on CGI spectacle than well-crafted storytelling. Indeed, there are plot holes galore in WW 1984. Still, Gadot, Pine, and Wiig -- and to a lesser extent, Pascal -- manage to provide enough appeal and sincerity to keep the movie from falling through the narrative's foundational cracks.
