I totally disagree with the previous review! I think there's lots of different aspects of the film and the different relationships which means that many of us can relate to some or all of them! My parents came to England from East Europe after the 2nd World War so I found it easy to relate to Javed's frustration to his father's strict family and/or religous ethics. The fact that the characters broke into song during the film I thought worked well-it provided an outlet for the tensions in the film. Another reviewer called it an emaotional rollercoaster-I agree, I was almost exhausted by the end! Altogether a brilliant film with excellent actors with fab cameos, not to mention the super soundtrack!! Someone I knew who also saw the film, thought it was mainly for Springsteen fans...I'm not so sure myself.
