An honest and realistic review... If you read the 1 star reviews you'll see a common theme, lets address these... 1. 'The gameplay is outdated' - the gameplay is very similar to the first game, but imrpoved some. Did you like the first game? Then why, suddenly, years later do you decide the gameplay is outdated? I enjoyed the first and the second only improves. 2. 'The controls are clunky' - yeah they're a little more stiff than some third person games, but this has survival horror elements. The controls are built like this to give you that little panic when you need it and it helps with the horror. If you really think theyre 'clunky' then youtube a pro gamer speedrun a level, headshotting left, right and centre... you'll see how 'clunky' they are. 3. 'They've forced diversity into the game. Yes there are more than just white people. Are the several east asian characters 'forced'? Not at all. In fact, most people would label these diversities under the heading 'people' and yes, the game is full of people. Why single out a couple of characters just because there is more than one east asain person. If you're complaining about that then it says more about you than it does about Naughty Dog. 4. Yes there is girl on girl... and girl on guy... and a female with muscles. If you read any of that and are shocked or annoyed in anyway, then you have a problem. OMG! Theres a female and she isn't dainty, wearing high heels with her cleavage showing!? Again, this says more about you than it does the game. 5. (SPOILERS) Yes, Joel dies. 90% of people that give this game one star do this for this one very reason. Nope, I didn't want him to die. Yes, it sucks that he's not playable and lives throughout the game. This just reflects currenty trends in films. How many games and films have you llayed where you're playing along and you know full well the main hero will make it to the end and save the day? Yes, some of the support characters die... but they're only supporting roles, who's bothered, ey!? Naughty Dog have stepped outside the norm, they have created an amazing story that has more meaning than 'kill everyone, get to the end, save the day.' Yes it means losing a sensational character, but that only fuels you throught the game, making you question yours and their actions. This was a massively brave thing to do, don't forget, it's their hero too! So how many of you stopped watching game of thrones after the red wedding? Deadpool 2 after his mrs died? The simpson after Ned Flanders got popped? This game is about a story and that means more when it actually means something. This is an incredible game from the out. Acting is amazing. The movement and animations are incredible. Weapons are brilliant. Scare moments are pant filling. The graphics... I still have a day 1 edition standard ps4, the frame rate never drops, how Naughty Dog have managed to do that is beyong belief!! This is a gorgeous game. The detail and effort that they have put into parts of the world you merely just walk through for a couple of seconds is superior to the main attractions of most games. This is well worth your money and well worth the time. Although if you're a little racist, or sexist or sitting in the corner sulking as the story didn't go exactly how you wanted it, then you'll probably disagree.
