Helming movies that will make money no matter the quality does not make JJ Abrams special, yet Disney obviously think otherwise. My mate Tim could have directed the utter garbage (subjective) I just watched, and despite his lack of film making experience and dependence on alcohol, I still would have gone to see it out of the sheer nostalgia the series brand has.
In fact, had Tim have directed or indeed had any creative control whatsoever, it would no doubt have been an improvement over the awful mess I had the displeasure to sit though. The plot is a mismatch to what had come before, leaving a feeling there had been no over arching plan when this trilogy was conjured up, and it just expects everyone just to get on board with this and all the other inconsistencies throughout.
Much like many others I went solely due to loyalty and love to the brand created by JJ's alleged filmmaking heroes, I hope he and his mousey overlords (of whom certain respect is due outside this arena) realise the sheer disrespect shown by creating that clusterfudge of a film... it even made the last two even worse, and by lord, they didn't need help looking bad.
Kind Regards
Me
Ps, despite that, if you read this JJ, can you ask Kathleen to sort me a decent copy of The Mandalorian and another Monkey Island game?
