It is an ok drama but it is not horror. Very predictable from even the first episode. If it is true the book good for them. However, there is no discovery along with the characters because you know what is going on before they do. Characters feel so flat compared to the richness of development in Hill House. Flashback within a flashback is annoying and kills the eerie atmosphere with mundane, repetitive actions. The disjointedness did not further the plot. I feel it should have been scored completely different to Hill House. Acted very well, but I still can’t tell you which character is the most compelling or my favorite. Probably the gardener just for her monologue of the moon flower. I was expecting scary and I was never scared. And I am not talking jump scares. I want creepy, seeping horror sinking into my bones. So Bly Manor was a let down for me.
