Beautifully filmed, acted, and directed. Gets at life's big questions (for people otherwise living a comfortable life). In many cases, the people don't act like people really would -- real people would ask a lot more questions and not be so narrowly focused. But I suppose that's what makes these TALES -- they almost seem like folktales, in which people are not fully realized. That's not to say it's not moving -- the characters are heartfelt.
