I have seen Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movies before but NOTHING like "Padmavat"!!!! Hats off to you Sir. . .you have made India proud by showcasing an obscure period in our history in such a magnificent way to the whole world. . .I think any person not familiar with Indian history would be awe-struck by the wonderful weave of fact, fiction and fantasy that is "Padmavat". True, it is not 100% historically accurate (it doesn't claim to be so), there are flaws in the film (like any other films) but what stays on in the mind is the passion of an emperor to conquer a beauty and the tragic sacrifice made by a loving couple (king & queen) to stay united in both life & death. . .I think very few directors could portray this as well as Mr. Bhansali.
Our Indian history is a vast ocean of stories of kings & queens, which few directors have dared to exploit and brought to life on screen. It takes courage, imagination and a lot of hardwork & creativity. Kudos to team "Padmavat"!!! It is high time Indians learnt to appreciate their own heritage, instead of admiring battle scenes and mythology portrayed in Hollywood/Western movies. What started with "Bahubali" has continued even more successfully with "Padmavat". It's high time the Indian audience supported Indian directors to make films about Indian history instead of protesting unnecessarily!
