The silent and profound message of The Red Turtle will never leave my soul. It depicts all the sadness in life and then we die. That is to say, we are all essentially alone and experience the exhausting frustration of lifes obstacles that keep us imprisoned on that lonely island of self. When this pitiful character becomes so angry and bitter trying to survive, he ends up killing the red turtle, the source of his failure to escape the Island. When he realizes what he has done, his compassion and love for nature magically produces a beautiful woman who emerges from the shell of the turtle almost as if in childbirth. This is the beginning of finding meaning in life thru family and respect of nature.
