Cast is on free-wheels, the main character and storyline is constantly being reduced to "I'm a strong woman" line, and most of all... All of it is so cartoonish. Nothing is taken nor shown with any kind of serious touch that would anchor this show and therefor it fails to touch in any way. It simply fails to implicate the viewers in the story and to generate any feeling for the character.

People behind this movies never read one book of the series. At best they got information on the wiki. For anyone who care about the book and is curious about this adaptation, i'll give one example : the first scene you see Artemis Fowl, he is surfing. Just surfing for fun. They turned an amoral-yet-touching anti-hero into some generic spy-kid brat. And besides some character names, some places, it is very hard to recognize any similarities with the books on every level. And if you don't care about the book : it is yet another generic teenage disney-channel format with ton of budgets but nobody to direct it. Could have been done by a joyless AI in beta. And they still successfuly made it confusing with a lot of storylines barely introduced mixed into this tasteless soup. Don't waste your time. And hope that Disney will discount the licence to someone who actually pay interest into the character of Artemis Fowl.
