I LOVE ABBY, hear me out. (spoilers) Playing this visually stunning game was amazing. I hated how Joel died at the hands of a woman he saved, I hated Abby for that. But if you take everything into account, Joel did deserve to die, and somehow he was asking to be killed in order to pay for his sins. If you say that this is bad story-writing, I urge you to think about the following: 1. Abby had her father killed by Joel in cold blood, the only one who could develop the vaccine, and they weren’t doing anything wrong; 2. Ellie really had to die for the betterment of the world, but I couldn’t say I would do differently if I were in Joel’s position - and he says that he would do it all over again. 3. Ellie knew that Joel killed those fireflies. Abby only came for Joel, neither killed Tommy nor Ellie. But when Ellie became hungry for vengeance, she killed most of Abby’s friends. 4. for 3 completely different times, ABBY WAS THE BIGGER PERSON. YOU CAN’T ARGUE WITH THIS. Revenge is an endless cycle, and I’m glad to see that 5. Ellie realizes that love is about forgiveness, cliche as it may sound. If you come back to it, it was Joel’s love that saved Ellie’s life the first time, and in the end it was Joel that saved Ellie from committing another terrible murder. I’ll forever love Ellie, Joel, and Abby. I love all of their friends, just goes to show how there’s always 2 sides to a coin.
