Finch is a tender, deeply moving and unapologetically emotional film highlighting decency, self sacrifice and gratitude. In other words it is a film "sophisticated" reviewers would dismiss as "schmalzy". Let them. For those still enthralled with the power of imagination this is a film that inspires. Tom Hanks is terrific, the use of the song American Pie perfectly apt and the premise of tough & tender loving interactions is empowering.

The pacing of this show is exquisite, the drama builds throughout, puncuated by action, reflection and surprising twists and turns. Despite some disparaging reviews the acting is restrained yet paradoxically blending well with the dark undercurrents of the series themes. For some inexplicable reasons season three has been canceled by Netflix apparently to make room for more lighthearted comedic silliness.
