This was FUN (despite not being familiar with the books). Timeline was a bit confusing, but it makes sense by the end. Henry Cavill seems perfectly cast. Some fight-scenes are great while others wavered, some CGI likewise, but the well-written & morally-grey cast of characters carries this along with Cavill's gravelly charisma.
