I was actually very impressed. Initially, I was going in with low expectations because I hate it when movie posters reveal the monsters. Going into it, it was kind of slow in my opinion but I think it was necessary to show the character development and what not. As the movie went on, I was a bit frustrated at the random hints of implication of light being used against the monster. They slap you in the face with it like twice but never follow up with it. Boring stuff aside, I absolutely loved the practical effects used to create the monster. It was a good boy and pretty good design. Very spooky oooooo. The ending had me kinda speechless, like I was silent the whole way through the credits. It was quite emotional and I was caught in my feels by it, and it left me silent. It was a bittersweet silent tbh.
I do recommend this movie, the actual action and stuff truly only happens around the halfway mark but it is a pretty decent movie to watch.
