Stephen “Crizzie” Crisdale

Some music transcends time and place. It defies classification and runs counter to the path that so-called 'pundits' determine "music" should follow. Gong as a band and You their album are perfect exemplars of that. Sadly the band and their music were viewed at the time as way too "out there" to attain 'main-stream' recognition on the one hand and too 'esoteric' for the majority of groovy young things keen to prove their 'cred' amongst the "cool crowd"... which meant the real appreciators of Gong and this album were not those who drive the mass market! However, it's pretty clear that the influence of the band and their music - like that of King Crimson and even Roxy Music, resounded far further within the circles where it's influence would be greatest - i.e. amongst musician who have plenty of appreciation, if not downright envy for fellow musicians who can produce sounds that make even them go "Eff'in Wow!!"
