The book is sooo much better. This miniseries is like eating a pizza with just pasta sauce and the book....a cheezy pizza with the works.

I have mixed feelings about this movie. I thought it started off quite strong but then Tom's interpretation just seemed hoaky at times. It certainly was not nuanced. I like how Tom portrayed him as confused and bewildered most of the time, trying to make sense of the past and present with a rotting brain. I wonder if he was a sociopath. It seems if he were, he would not be haunted by his macabre past. The only other thing I want to mention is that I dont think Tom had that intimidating presence that the real Capone did. He was not menacing, as I bet Al still was even during the last yr of his life. Tom's stature is more diminutive. Al was a big man. Stocky. Ps. The carrot thing was funny. Wonder if it's true lol
