Defiance Cross

Just watched the raw version of the finale. Anyone else wonder what happened to the plot introduced in the first episode with the empress being found burried in the palace with the fancy necklace? I was kind of waiting to see how it came to that point. But the storyline seems to have changed due to the extension. I still ended well but I still would have liked to see what the plot would have been like if they had continued the storyline to connect to the first episode.
