Butcher is utterly, word for word, fascinating and I couldn’t put it down. Her genius is in the fine line between fact and fiction and she has created a self-aggrandizing man of astonishingly ignorant ineptitude, unchecked ego, and moral and ethical bankruptcy that literally, at times, had my jaw dropping. I’ve never read anything like it.
JCO, in my opinion, has the tendency to have character’s recollections of certain events that have made me say “haven’t I read this description of the murder (whatever the scenario) three times already?”
However, if this happened in this novel, you wouldn’t notice - it’s that absorbing.
