Great film - Ralph Fiennes was mesmerising. some syntax issues with the laying of the hessian and branches at the end of the film( just before Robert organises blankets and cushions for Edith to lie down in the boat and watch the stars - we see Basil laying the branches) perhaps it was his recollection. I need to watch it again. I had watched a live performance of ‘Edith in the beginning’ by playwright Karen Forbes at house at Sutton Hoo in the summer of 2019 for the National Trust and watching ‘the dig’ this evening has made me determined to see the Sutton Hoo treasure at the British Museum and confirm for myself that Basil Brown’s part in the excavation has been properly acknowledged.. Very interesting interview on Radio 4 about the making of the film, discussing the actual film location for the field and house (not at Sutton Hoo) and building and shooting of the film using two mounds in different stages.Fascinating
