Safe is an unrealistic, and improbable series with so many ridiculous twists and turns that it is actually funny. Why is Dexter playing the lead role? Were there not enough British actors? They probably realised what a thin plot it has and ran for the hills. The Pete's/daughter subplot is laughable! (He's a 45 year old man and she is probably around 30. Was he 15 when he went to medical school?) As was his stint on a ventilator after two knife wounds where he fought for his life and lost so much blood and then 24 hours later, he runs around pain-free. He doesn't even limp a bit from the pain in his side. Do these people never work? What was the scene about where Dexter goes into Bobby's office (after walking through deserted spider web-filled passages that look like they are in an abandoned building) and Bobby is watching him on the CCTV and then ... nothing happens. So many things were just absurd. The female cop drowns a young fit teenager in a shallow pool. The pool is at a house where 40 kids are getting drunk and not a single one goes outside to hang by the pool? Of course not, because then she couldn't drown the fit teenage boy in the shallow end of the pool. All the people live in the same place they grew up and their children go to the same school they went to. The entire plot with Jojo, his wife and psychopathic daughter is just … just … so unbelievable. As in, it cannot be believed. Only watch this if you want a mind-numbing, mindless way to waste time. You can also watch baggage go round on a carousel.

Season 1 is a mad rollercoaster ride with a tightly written story with sharp turns and twists. There is nothing that is unnecessary or bloated or flapping loose. It is not perfect, but it is a highly entertaining story. Season 2 is boring beyond any description. It is like watching luggage go round a carousel. In slow motion. At 3 o'clock at night in a snowed-in rural airport. There are storylines that go nowhere. Like Joe not having a suit for his uncle's funeral, Mae's youngest son playing with a lighter, the woman from the soup kitchen and her relationship with Abbott. It is boring boring boring and I will never be able to get the time I wasted watching season 2 back.
