I've loved Gilligan's Island, all my life. Even after I was rendered totally Deaf, after a 10-week battle, with meningitis, I memorized the programs and knew the ending of every one.
Then, when Ted Turner added captioning, it became a thrill, again.
This is not to say that the next Deaf person, you meet, will enjoy GI, though. The Deaf, traditionally, enjoy action and my only "non-action"
program is GI.
A few years ago, I came across a website, where the owner, who turned out to be the man, who had played the surfer and the "fake" Tarzan, had written that only he and Hans Conried had played more than one character, on GI. I told him that's not true (it turns out that someone else had told him the wrong information) and I pointed out that Vito Scotti had played multiple characters.
MeTV put GI on Sunday afternoons, for awhile, but took it off. Now that it is slated to be added to the schedule, again, I'll go back to taping it.
