This was a brilliant film. It was heartfelt, visually beautiful, and took perfectly fitting formulaic chances. Its representation is a start, but combined with its depiction of a 'superhero' characters struggling with mental health, it made it feel like Hollywood cinema is finally moving in a progressive, inclusive direction. I only wish a film like this was around when I was a young girl. I've always watched Marvel films without them leaving much of a lasting impact beyond me walking out of the cinema complex. But this film was so moving, I had to go and convince as many friends as possible as to why they need to watch it. It even made me write my first google review ever, when I noticed how plain wrong the critical reviews were on Rotten Tomatoes. You've got to watch it! I cannot wait to see more from Chloé Zhao in the future.
