Where do I start talking about this movie?
To be honest, it wasn't as half bad as it was described by trolls.
It's true I cringed throughout the trailer and the movie. As a kid who grew up watching the movies which were made by legendary cast and crew, so many things portrayed in the movie as a part of the plot didn't sit right with me. The very first example that I remember is Sampoorna Ramayanamu and there's Lava Kusa. These two movies were practically my childhood teachers for mythology. So if I compare this movie with those, it would be a losing battle for Aadipurush.
But as an individual movie, the Visual Effects are pretty decent except for Jambavanthudu. He's supposed to be a scary looking bear.. but he looks like a cuddly teddy bear. And hey, what's wrong with Ravana's 10 heads?(Genuine question)
The BGM was super good and will keep you engaged throughout the movie. The first half was good but the second half of the movie seems rushed. You can say it's the director's version of Ramayana. This doesn't look like it was based on an original story and filmed as is. They made a lot of changes for cinematic experience of the story. And the cute love scenes between Raghu and Janaki were totally unnecessary. Some scenes feel like they started out of nowhere especially when Jambavanthudu talks to Bhajarang ji about his own powers.
I watched it in 3D and it was a good experience. Those who watched it in Telugu will cringe at the dialogues since you won't expect something like 'nee babu' as addressing someone's father in a mythological film. Many more dialogues don't do justice for the tag that it's a mythological film. But hey, you got meme content!
Coming to the length of the movie, they could've added more scenes and I personally think that they could've started the whole thing from the Svayamvara Scene. A lot of details were missing and for the director who promised the audience that he wanted to let this film be the modern people's way of learning Ramayana, didn't provide enough information regarding the story as such. It will be really confusing for all those who are watching it for the first time without knowing the actual mythology behind this.
Okay, I don't wanna start fan wars but Prabhas has done decent enough for his role. It looks as if he has done what the director has said. Saif Ali Khan has done a great job in his role. I don't know why Kriti and Sunny even bothered trying. It was even funny in some scenes watching them try so hard to do justice to their role. Rest of them had done what they were given.
It was an honest effort of the film crew but they over promised the audience at the start of the film that they did their research on the said mythology and only a few scenes were changed for cinematic feel which was not the case. But it's a good watch. Do watch it in the theatres with an open mind, you'll be entertained throughout.
