I've been watching SNL since the early 90s. In the past, cast members were chosen based on their comedic and theatrical talent and this led to a diverse and eclectic mix of performers many of whom went on to become mega stars in their own right. Nowadays it seems that the formula has been shifted away from pure comedic talent and the goal is to simply fill spots based on some predetermined demographic characteristic. Unfortunately, this strategy has led to a decline in the quality of the program. There are still a few gems every now and then but sitting through an entire show is now nearly impossible.

This show is such a garbled mess I don't even know where to start. For 15 minutes it will be a pointless murder mystery in the British tradition. This will be followed by 15 minutes of it being a spanish soap opera. Mix in 5 minutes of soft core pornography and jagged misplaced violence and gore and you will keep asking yourself what the hell am I watching? Add to this the fact they chose the most off putting weird looking actor to play 'Axel' the guy we are all supposed to care deeply about and by whom and why he was potentially murdered 20 years ago. What a mess and now I have to watch four more episodes of this train wreck because I have nothing better to do these days.
