Like Shoba's dad in the movie, I am left wondering what redeeming qualities she sees in the protagonist who does not change for the better one single bit. She says the person who could not keep track of time and show up to take her to the airport will "take care of her". At the end of the movie, it is portrayed that what the "feminist" heroine and her friends really need after all is to be reconciled with their terrible partners, protagonist included. The average Malayalam male audience fantasy of not changing one aota about yourself and still having a beautiful girl keep coming after you is fulfilled. Aju Varghese entertains because it doesn't matter if you root for his character. Nivin Pauly does his character well, it's just that the character itself is abhorrent. And yet 81% liked this movie. So I'm guessing the sreenivasan clan has a better grasp on the target audience than I do, but I sincerely hope the film does not represent their true beliefs from real life.
