It’s always great to hear from artists who had a such a huge influence on society. But lets talk about the filmmaking for a moment. I counted more than 35 shots in a row of Jacob Dylan where he doesn’t say anything, just sits there in the shot. What is he doing there? And why are Regina Spektor and Beck sitting on a couch talking about these musical giants of the 1960ies who were making music before they were even born? If you want influential modern musicians to talk about this period in the 1960ies, how about Jay-Z or Lana Del Ray or Taylor Swift or Justin Vernon? The whole thing felt contrived and bizarre. But again, hearing from some musicians who were part of that movement (a lot didn’t appear, or were not asked to appear?) is interesting.
