Rajma Chawal **/5
Rajma Chawal is a movie about a father-son duo where the father is trying to bridge the generation gap through the use of social media. The concept itself had some potential to make it a contemporary, fun and emotional movie but fails to leave a mark largely due sub standard acting by the young leads, bad music and dubbing, and some really stupid scenes (like the final one). The son is of course not interested in studies, is of course disconnected with his father, is of course interested in music instead and wants to create a band - basically nothing new to the character. Also, the movie makes light of issues like domestic violence and consent by eventually showing the abuser in a positive light.
There are some funny moments though by Rishi Kapoor and his friends. Beeji’s character is most hilarious one.
All in all the movie is half baked and leaves you wondering why couldn’t they do a good job at it!
