This is easily my favorite movie ever. Although it takes place in Nazi Germany, this movie is very ANTI Nazi. It exemplifies the ridiculousness of the Nazi party's existence, showing how awful it was in a way that is easy to digest. The director, Taika Waititi, is himself Jewish. I agree with his bold claim that the biggest defense against something that harms you, something terrible, is being able to laugh at it.
Controversial Nazi setting aside, the acting is phenomenal. The cinematography is phenomenal. Most phenomenal of all however, is the message:
Love and truth are powerful. When you are true to yourself and who you really are, you are stronger than ever. And, with a little love, you can get through the darkest times imaginable.
