October movie review
A love story without a beginning
Cast- Varun Dhawan, Banita Sandhu, Gitanjali rao, Sahil Vidoliya, Isha chaturvedi
Movie director - Shoojit Sircar
Danish Walia aka Dan (Varun Dhavan) and Shiuli Iyer works as intern at the same hotel, but both are completely opposite of each other, where as Shiuli is a hard working, passionate and a polite girl, Dan is careless, aggressive, lazy and a trouble maker. Despite being warned several times he keeps making the same mistakes. He looks lost and acts like a loner besides having friends by his side.
One night while partying at the hotel with other interns Shiuli accidentally slips from 4th floor causing herself lethal injuries.
Though she survives the accident, she goes in the coma where her life is supported by a ventilator and machines, she is alive but like a living corpse.
Dan unaware about everything rushes to the hotel where his friends suggest him to meet her as he was not present the night when the accident occurred.
He is seen to be affected badly, he keeps visiting her in her spare time, later he finds out something that leaves him shocked and more affected than before, something that alters his life for forever. His lost life finds a new purpose.
The rest of the movie is about the purpose for which he stakes his career, job, friends, family and everything, the purpose that makes him find himself.
It's a very simple, endearing love story, but with a paradigm altering end. The character played by Varun is original, edgy and zany at times. There are scenes where Varun unknowingly pesters hospital staffs and the way he keeps tab on Shiuli's recovery. It seems hilarious at such gruesome and intense moment. Though these light hearted moment doesn't get in the way of the movie.
It's not an ordinary stereotypical romantic movie that we often get to watch.
Dan's character is authentic, it's one of Varun's best work. Gitanjali rao as a single mother has justified the role. It's a must watch tearjerker movie. The kind of movies that touches the core while it lasts. A highly unpredictable movie with an unsettling plot twist that leaves us with dubious emotion at the end.
