What a fun film this was, football was central to the plot but the theme was self belief, respect, friendship and overcoming adversity. Great performances, lovely locations and well directed. Fassbinder looked like he was having a blast. Well worth watching.

Zone of Interest was a very brave and original film that pulled no punches in addressing the horror of the death camps without needing to show any visual representations. Using mainly sounds and visual imagery such as towers and smoke was enough. The SS family and the structure of the Nazi officers held a hideous fascination and was very thought provoking and effective. An unusual but excellent work.

I really didn’t like the film. Tacky and disrespectful in a caricaturist way. Two good performances for Amy and Blake but it didn’t save a disappointing movie.

This is probably going to make me unpopular but I was disappointed with the TV adaptation. Two reasons. Having read the book first I find Ben Wilshaw (a very good actor) wrong for the part. He’s too delicate and frail and lacks the sardonic dryness of Adam Kay in the book. Also I could not see the point of making him gay when he has a long suffering girlfriend H in the book. Maybe it suits Wilshaw’s persona better but I missed that side of the book too. I have only watched part 1 but will persevere.

Well that was a trip. It’s a war film unlike any other you will ever see. Only Tarantino could mock history in this way and make it entertaining. I almost felt guilty enjoying it so much. Christopher Waitz was just amazing. Some like The Guardian critic will hate it, me I loved it.

A film with a very big heart. Funny, sad and real. Sure tugs at the heartstrings but in a good way. Loved it.

Really strong film based on frightening true events. Two excellent performances by the leads. Cumberbatch is such a smart and versatile actor. Well worth seeing.

Really enjoying this series. Jeff Daniels is my favourite actor. Well made and credible.

Great movie with two top class central performances, especially Simmons. Powerful, intense and rewarding.
