This is only the 2nd time I've ever written a review for a TV show but feel so strongly about this one I have to add my two cents. The theme could be interesting but the storyline is stupid. Skyscrapers and hundreds of people and vehicles stuck in LA traffic fell into a massive sinkhole into an inner earth. However, only one building and only about 15 cars are seen. There should have been dead bodies everywhere from the fall or at least people crushed by large chunks of pavement, cars, buildings etc but you only see one man stuck under a vehicle who is still alive and one dead man sitting in the driver's seat of a car. I realize alot of shows and movies have "yeah right that couldn't happen in real life" events, such as the entire theme of this show. But if they would have made the probability of what would happen if so many people, buildings and vehicles fell in such a hole, the sci Fi part of it might be more captivating.
But even worse than the ridiculousness, the acting is so terrible (except the mom) I didn't get past the pilot, and I barely made it through that. I don't think most of the actors or actresses have ever done any acting before. I wish I would have known when auditions were and how easy it would have been to land a role in this show, I could have aced it.
There are no tears, no emotions. When people love a TV show or movie, it's because the actors and actresses are so believable, people become drawn in and are able to escape from their own lives for a bit. The actors and actresses in this show are not believable.
Maybe I I'll give it another chance down the road. There are some shows I've watched in the past that I didn't really care for the pilot or first few shows but continued to watch out of boredom and the episodes got better and better and the shows ended up being favorites. I thought The Last Man On Earth was really stupid when I watched the pilot. Months later I could find nothing to watch so watched the next episode. Meh. I couldn't find the remote and was too lazy to get up so when the 3rd episode came on I watched it. Started getting more interesting. Each episode got better and better until I was left sitting at the edge of my seat at the end of each one. I have never been so upset in my entire life because a TV show was cancelled. I literally cried. That was the first review I ever wrote. Seems like the few super entertaining tv shows I've loved get cancelled but the stupid and mediocre shows stay on for years.
I give this one 2 stars for the theme.
