Oscar-worthy performance by Austin Butler who - apparently - channelled the spirit of Elvis and brought The King of Rock 'n' Roll back to life. But what was more impressive than Butler's acting and musical chops was the film's depiction of how Black musicians heavily influenced Elvis's musical - and fashion - stylings. Oftentimes Elvis biopics gloss over this fact.
Granted, the movie lagged in some spots, but the soundtrack is brilliant and contemporary, and the whole visual and aural package was well worth the two-year wait.
