The movie in its entirety is not the fastest paced film. My family and I went to see the movie and they were expecting an action-packed movie. I didn't want to go at all, but I am extremely glad I did. This movie, in a pitch-black theater, was one of the greatest visual and audio experiences I've ever had. Brad Pitt's performance was incredible, the few spurts of outrage he felt, could really be felt while I was sitting there. His stone-cold delivery made it seem like he was a perfect astronaut. Speaking of perfect, the cinematography was as close to that as it can get. While Roy is slowly floating in space, the room gets darker with the black screen, and it just transports you to another world. I could watch this movie without sound and I would be okay with it. Roy and his father's relationship was not really relatable to me, but I could still empathize with him because of Brad Pitt's portrayal of the character. For how slow paced the movie is, it makes sense given the circumstances. A large portion of it takes place with Roy just wafting in space. It takes years for him to reach his final destination, the slow and somewhat boring times of the movie just fit with that. Leaving the theater, I was in awe of what I had just seen, so if you have the chance, I would highly recommend this film. I didn't know what to expect, but I was incredibly awe-stricken with what I had watched.
