Are you interested in my opinion of this failure of a documentary? You need only venture to the YouTube channel "Mother's Basement" and watch Geoff's review. But, to give a brief on my feelings....
Confusion, initially. I didn't know what I was getting into. I've been a fan of anime for some time now, years in fact, but I can't say I've done much to dig deep behind the scenes. I wondered what I would find with this video, an incomplete outside perspective warped by stereotypes and hearsay? A well written and insightful glimpse at the systems of the machine and culture? Or perhaps a corporate bias edit and advertisement? Well, I certainly found out what it was.
Certainly limited and lacking in perspective, corporate influence is clear in that it's absolutely an over inflated advertisement for Netflix's anime, written by someone unfamiliar with the situation, and edited by someone with the skills of a first year YouTuber who has high hopes for their work but no real talent to apply to their vision.
The worst part is how not only is a significant "crunch time" issue downplayed, it's made to seem like it's the opposite of a problem. This is a dangerous thing to do, as it may only hurt the industry's talent far worse than it currently does. If this does happen, it may ruin the industry itself, as the people are always the foundation of any system.
When the people break, the foundation crumbles, and it takes the structure with it.
