I think they have bit themselves in the foot here. First, the back story is explained as a detective and estranged wife, along with new girlfriend (wife's friend) have to solve a serial killing case together, while dealing with the growing tension between the three. Second, by episode 3 or 4, one of the main characters is dead...there goes the back story. It makes no sense to me, especially with a memorable actor such as Ryan Phillipe. If he had lived, then we'd have a pretty interesting story here. You don't kill a memorable actor unless the other main actors are on the same level because then they can carry the show. The characters are all great and interesting but they are not seasoned like Ryan. The series team could have done a better job with development because at this point, I would be surprised to see a second season.
