(SPOILERS) This is a seven part series that would've been much better if it was just four parts. The characters speak not in sentences but in multiple page dialog, when it isn't needed. The show is about devout Christians who wouldn't know a vampire if one bit them on the neck. It is their devotion and their manipulation of scripture that is the basis of the series. I'll give credit where it's due : The concept was refreshing but the execution of it could've been better.

It's a shame that some reviews are by racist and/or homophobic people who will give low scores to a show or movie because it reflects a reality they can't deal with or frightens them. Having said that, I lost the plot on this show at the sixth episode. I believe a major problem with the show is that there were 4 different time lines, when two would've sufficed. Then again I had a hard time trying to process the film 'Inception'. I can appreciate that film and this series, but sometimes these productions try to be too smart and end up complicating their storyline. This series was also too long. Split into eight episodes, I'm sure a better idea would've been to edit the series down to six.

Don't compare this series to the Netflix series called 'Formula 1 Drive to Survive'. They are as different as water to guns. Formula 1 is about risking your life racing at high speeds, and dealing with a team's internal politics. Whereas Breaking Point is the exact opposite. It's one athlete playing another, and dealing not only with the on-court game, but also the mental gymnastics, failures and successes. So this series is more about the personalities of certain athletes focusing mainly on their performances at the Grand Slam tournaments. I've noticed there are one or two reviewers who seem to need to judge a series by using the tape measure of 'political correctness'. I pity them. I watch a show, movie, etc to enjoy it, not for any political angle. The show does a great job focusing on the athletes. But remember, they're only tennis players. Not race car drivers or football players.

A lot of people complained about the character of Eddie, a female cop who has been kicked down to Deadloch. I admit her caustic and derogatory comments are a bit much, but it's interesting to watch her character develop and change as the series progresses, as we learn the reason as to why she was sent there. All the characters are well-played and casted, and the dialog is crisp, fast and funny. Even if you don't know any Aussie slang, you'll enjoy this. It's just 8 episodes, yet I wanted more. My fingers are crossed hoping there'll be a second season.

Hated it!!! I've seen the magnificent Pan's Labyrinth, which is the pinnacle of del Toro's career so far, as the Shape of Water seemed to be a remake of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. So I went into this film with my fingers crossed. The only redeeming quality about this film is the stop-motion animation. Everything else falls flat. The music was forgetable, as were the voice actors, and the storyline which threw everything at the movie, but the kitchen sink. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a warm and fuzzy movie, just a great story and great vocal talent that matched the characters, and maybe a memorable song. I found none of that here. Unfortunately this film had too much going on, when all that was needed was one storyline from start to finish. It was also too long. Just so you know, I've never seen the Disney version. So I had nothing to compare this to. I give it two stars for the animation.

I've never been a fan of Will Ferrell, but I had heard of the Eurovision Song Contest, and had noticed the contest was made up of campy performances and goofy hosts/hostesses. This film nails it perfectly. After seeing it once, I doubt I ever need to see it again. There was however two big surprises in the movie one was Dan Steven's performance. It took me awhile to recognize him; the other which is quite a surprise to me is how much I love the Ja Ja Ding Dong song. As a person who loves everything from Iron Maiden to Genesis to the Beach Boys and Motown; Ja Ja Ding Dong is stuck snuggly in my mind. I gave it a three stars, as it turned out better than I expected. Now excuse me as I go listen to Iron Maidens 'the Number of the Beast'.

I watched the show because so many people claimed it was so great. It's not, there's many problems. Listed below are a few of them : 1) European productions are paced very s--l--o--w--l--y. This 8-part series, could've been squeezed into 3 or 4 episodes. 2) There's far too many characters. The characters from various countries seem to be there as a way to appeal to a wider audience 3) It's called 1899, yet the music is Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Blue Oyster Cult, etc (like whaaat?) 4) Things that happen will leave you underwhelmed 5) I get the feeling the writer(s) are fans of the 'Alien'/Ridley Scott movies. One thing reminded me of Alien, then on episode 2, I was reminded of 'Aliens', plus one of the ships is called 'Prometheus', which was an Alien sequel directed by Ridley Scott. 6) After awhile you get to the point where you don't care what happens. I admit I did nod off during episode 6. 7) The conclusion fails to explain all of the characters' storylines. Nothing makes sense, and you'll feel cheated out of wasting 8 hours. One reason Netflix canceled the series was because of the incredibly slow pacing of the series.

Netflix described the three vignettes as 'comedies'. They're not. I chose to watch due to the impressive stop-motion animation, of a kind I've never seen before; with each vignette about 30 minutes long. The first story, which I loved was a tale about the trappings of wealth, the next two continued the morality plot lines. Many of you will find this interesting, but for me, I just wanted something fun to watch along with the animation which was fresh and exciting. The three stars are mostly for the animation and plot line of the first vignette.
