Such a fun movie! One of the best horror/comedies

Loved it! I don't usually enjoy movies with singing, but this movie had great visuals and sequences. Its fun and emotionally compelling.

Most of the movie was fun, but two major drawbacks spoiled the entire thing: - Some parts - particularly that God-awful dance sequence amid the smoke - leaned more "plainly terrible" than "satirical" - They tried to cover too many tropes in this movie. It was too much, not enough breaks in the plot to bring us back to centre before it went off again. Another thing, which isn't specific to this movie but is obnoxious: Henry Cavill only made a few cameos. I hate when big actors are major in trailers or are listed first in the cast and then it turns out they play minor roles.

The premise and actors held a lot of potential but the writing became so terrible halfway through, it dragged everything down. The concept of siblings falling for their siblings' partners is cringey at best and the type of fodder you usually see on Jerry Springer. It wasn't done well in this movie, and ruined what could've otherwise been a great Christmas/ family drama movie about meeting in laws.

All in all, a great movie. Scary and tense, with some comedic relief in places where it's natural and needed. Ethan Hawke killed his role, and the story line was developed well. Only drawbacks are that some of the scenes seemed really reeeally scripted, and there were a couple of pieces of dialogue that left me wondering what the point of them was. Highly recommend this movie!

Cant wait for the next episode. Love how they wove the Silence of the Lambs story through the episode and showed its effects on the characters. Intrigued by the relationship between Clarice and Catherine.

Good story idea. The acting was terrible at times. Effects were hit or miss.

This movie was a long, boring disappointment. It wants to be more than a "family moves to a haunted house" story, tries to be super artsy but falls flat. Highly predictable, and the graphics were truly terrible. The only redeeming qualities are the actors' skills. There's also a metaphor for feminism/the unity of survivors which is relevant in the #metoo era but seems heavyhanded at times.

Slow, lacklustre and predictable. None of the characters were strong or particularly likeable. Had one good scene and 2 good shots near the end, but they didnt make up for the rest of this movie.

Had a couple of scenes that made me laugh, but most of the movie was slap stick comedy that felt forced. The plot, at several points, made no sense. I really enjoyed Melissa McCarthy in other action movies (Spy is an all-time favourite) and I love just about everything Octavia Spencer is in, so this was just disappointing. I feel like the actors did what they could with the material (for example, Jason Bateman in his first scene was as charming as he could be with pincers for arms). But the plot and the "comedy" truly sucked.
