This book has some brilliant examples of foreshadowing in it. From the strokes of his watch slowing down to the detail, he can see when he is dreaming. If you read this casually you will not be able to see most of the foreshadowing that is going on. I had to compare this with Inception in a comparative question and it was a joy to write and to find the similarities between them. This story is well worth a read. I also like the way you are shocked at the end when Ambrose Bierce drops that massive bombshell on you. It encourages to go and read it a second time. It is an amazing short story.
