I've never left a review for a movie before and this will be my first. After seeing this today, having been a lifelong Star Wars fan, I was just appalled at how little imagination and thought seemed to be put into this movie. The canned dialogue, attempts to completely ignore setups from past movies in favor of random plot twists that had nothing to do with the material that preceded it, and the general lack of ingenuity that I've come to expect not only of Star Wars, but also Disney movies is disheartening. It falls into the category of franchises that I've seen decline in the last three years, with James Bond, Fantastic Beasts, X-Men, and Game of Thrones, and it just makes for a really disappointing experience. The Rise of Skywalker seemed like 20 different movies pieced together at the last minute, where nothing made sense, and they threw cameos of dead characters in as a way to excuse the mess. I'm sure the actors, directors, and crew put their heart and soul into this - because it was a major project and you can tell they tried to do the best with what they were given - I don't blame them. The direction of the movie just sucked. The best I can say for the sequels is that they're over, and I won't have to go through this disappointment again.
